TIPS FOR HEALTHY EATING

1. Always buy organic whenever possible.

2. Do not buy produce that is wilted or discolored.

3. Always wash fresh produce before storing.

4. Foods should not be left out of the refrigerator for
more than an hour.

5. READ THE LABELS Ingredients are listed by quantity
order. In other words, the first ingredient listed is what
the product contains the most of. The last ingredient
listed is what the product contains the least of.

6. Buy salt-free products if possible unless your doctor
has told you otherwise.

7. Do not buy produce from Mexico. If the produces does not
say where it comes from, ask the store manager or leave it
alone. Mexico has had several problems with contamination -
another good reason for buying organic products.

8. Never eat a large meal, eat several small meals
throughout the day.

9. Consume desserts in small amounts and not necessarily
every day. I have included the dessert recipes for those of
you who have to have that sweet taste. Giving up sweets is
extremely hard for most of us, but if you learn how to
consume them in moderation and only once in a while, you
will soon notice that you do not have the same desire for
them as you did before. Treat yourself only once in a while
unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

10. Omit junk foods

11. Eat a low fat, high fiber, low sugar and low protein
diet.

12. Drink lots of distilled water.

13. Omit caffeine, processed white flour, artificial
sweeteners, and most animal products.

14. If you have digestive problems, consider an enzymatic
digesting with each meal.

15. Do not eat for five hours before bedtime. Your body
goes through a healing process when you are asleep, but if
there is food in the stomach, the body cannot start the
healing process until it is digested. Do not rob yourself
of valuable healing time.

16, Chew your food thoroughly. A lot of digestive problems
occur when the stomach receives food that has not been
chewed thoroughly. The "chewing" action also stimulates the
flow of digestive juices. The harder your stomach has to
work at digestion, the more problems you will have with
indigestion, including gas, heartburn, constipation,
diarrhea, bloating, etc.

17. Eat raw veggies as much as possible unless you have
cirrhosis, then steam them.

18. Drink lots of green juices.

19. Do not drink fruit juices as they are high in sugar
content.

20. Eat only one or two pieces of fruit per day, preferable
apples and bananas or 1/2 of a grapefruit. Sugar is a shock
to the liver.
